Key Responsibilities:

  • Immediate Patient Care: Provide direct, urgent care to patients who arrive in the Emergency Department with a wide range of medical conditions, including trauma, heart attacks, strokes, respiratory distress, and other critical emergencies.
  • Assessment and Triage: Conduct thorough assessments of incoming patients, accurately identifying life-threatening conditions and prioritizing care according to medical severity.
  • Clinical Procedures: Administer medications, perform wound care, assist with diagnostic procedures, and monitor patients’ conditions in real time. Be prepared for critical interventions such as intubation, chest compressions, and IV insertion.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare professionals to develop rapid treatment plans and coordinate interventions in time-sensitive situations.
  • Patient Advocacy: Advocate for the patient’s needs, ensuring they receive timely, compassionate care in a chaotic, fast-paced environment.
  • Documentation: Accurately document patient information, treatments, medications, and observations in compliance with hospital policies and legal requirements.
  • Crisis Management: Respond swiftly and effectively to medical emergencies such as cardiac arrest, trauma cases, or mass casualty incidents, demonstrating composure and quick decision-making.
  • Patient and Family Support: Provide emotional support to patients and their families during stressful situations, offering clear communication and reassurance throughout their care journey.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (ADN or BSN)
  • Licensure: Current Registered Nurse (RN) license 
  • Certifications:
    • Basic Life Support (BLS)
    • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
    • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) preferred
  • Experience:
    • Previous emergency room, critical care, or trauma nursing experience is highly preferred.
    • New graduate nurses with a strong desire to work in emergency care are welcome to apply if they are willing to undergo specialized training.
  • Skills:
    • Strong critical thinking and decision-making abilities
    • Ability to handle high-stress situations with poise and professionalism
    • Proficient in assessing and prioritizing patients’ needs in a fast-paced environment
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams
    • Knowledge of emergency care procedures, medical equipment, and technology
