Watton Hall is partnered with a global research pharmaceutical company who are seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to lead our Biochemistry and Structural Biology department for a pioneering organization in the field of pain management pharmaceuticals. The Head of Biochemistry and Structural Biology will be responsible for overseeing research initiatives aimed at understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying pain pathways, developing novel therapeutic targets, and advancing drug discovery processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategic plans for biochemistry and structural biology research that align with the companys goals in pain management.
- Direct research projects focused on the biochemical characterization of pain-related proteins, receptor-ligand interactions, and structural analysis using techniques such as X-ray crystallography, NMR spectroscopy, and cryo-electron microscopy
- Lead a multidisciplinary team of scientists, fostering a collaborative environment that encourages innovation.
- Establish partnerships with collaborators to enhance research capabilities. Represent the company at scientific conferences and meetings.
- Provide mentorship to junior scientists within the department.
Candidate Profile
- Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Structural Biology, or a related field with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in pharmaceutical or biotechnology industries.
- Extensive knowledge of protein chemistry, molecular biology techniques, structural biology methodologies, and drug discovery processes.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities with experience managing cross-functional teams effectively.
- A deep knowledge of human chronic pain disorders is an advantage.
