Position: Senior Hardware Engineer – Advanced Electronics Systems
Overview
A technology-driven organization developing advanced electronic systems is seeking a Senior Hardware Engineer to lead the design, development, and validation of high-performance communications hardware.
This is a hands-on technical leadership role responsible for guiding circuit card assembly (CCA) development from concept through production release. The position offers the opportunity to work on complex hardware platforms, collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, and contribute to innovative product development.

Key Responsibilities
Hardware Design & Development
- Lead the design and development of circuit card assemblies (CCAs) from concept through production release
- Translate system and product requirements into hardware specifications and architectures
- Perform component selection, schematic capture, and oversight of PCB layout
- Ensure designs meet performance, reliability, manufacturability, and cost objectives
Verification & Testing
- Develop and execute hardware test plans, simulations, and validation procedures
- Perform debugging and root-cause analysis of hardware issues during development, prototype builds, and production
- Support verification activities to ensure design compliance and performance targets
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with mechanical engineering, FPGA/IP developers, and system engineering teams to integrate hardware into larger platforms
- Participate in design reviews and technical decision-making across product teams
Product Development Support
- Support project planning activities including requirements definition, scheduling, and engineering estimates
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation including schematics, design reports, test results, and engineering change documentation
- Identify opportunities to improve design tools, processes, and engineering workflows
Leadership & Mentorship
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers
- Promote best practices in hardware design, testing, and documentation
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
- 8–15 years of hardware design experience
- Experience designing complex hardware platforms incorporating FPGAs and microcontrollers
- Proficiency with schematic capture and PCB design tools (Cadence OrCAD / Allegro preferred)
- Experience with high-speed digital interfaces such as PCI/PCIe, USB, or Ethernet
- Strong understanding of analog and digital circuit design, signal integrity, power design, and thermal considerations
- Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills
Preferred Experience
- Experience supporting DO-254 hardware development processes
- Familiarity with environmental testing including thermal, shock, and vibration
- Knowledge of MIL-STD-1553 and ARINC-429 communication interfaces
- Experience with Multi-Chip Module (MCM) design
