Consulting Engineering | Project Management | DC Metro Office

A well‑established, multidisciplinary engineering firm is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer with 10–15 years of consulting engineering and project management experience for its growing DC Metro office. The ideal candidate is a self‑motivated, team‑oriented professional who thrives in a dynamic environment and is looking for a challenging and rewarding career path.

This role includes close collaboration with business development teams and discipline leads to develop technical proposals, support marketing initiatives, and help build and mentor a high‑performing team of engineering professionals. The successful candidate will work directly with clients, providing expert consulting services across a wide range of project types.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design electrical systems for diverse project types
  • Manage and design multiple concurrent projects while maintaining quality, schedule, and budget
  • Interpret and review technical drawings with precision
  • Lead and coordinate design team efforts across disciplines
  • Develop fee proposals and qualification‑based proposals
  • Ensure compliance with electrical and energy codes and standards, including NEC, IEEE, NESC, IESNA, IECC, and others
  • Utilize electrical modeling software such as SKM, ETAP, or similar platforms
  • Provide engineering and design support for industrial, higher education, healthcare, federal government, and commercial projects
  • Contribute to lighting design, Telecom, A/V, Cybersecurity, and security system design (experience preferred but not required)
  • Multi‑task and prioritize effectively in a fast‑paced environment
  • Apply strong critical thinking, organizational, and analytical skills
  • Maintain positive working relationships with internal teams, clients, and external partners
  • Use Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint proficiently
  • Participate in marketing and business development activities
  • Positively contribute to office culture, team morale, and department goals
  • Travel as needed for client and project requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Electrical Engineering or related field from an accredited institution
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Electrical Engineering required
  • 10–15 years of relevant experience
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Project management experience and/or certifications preferred
  • Desire to lead interdisciplinary projects and project teams
  • Experience working with local AHJs and established industry relationships is a plus
  • Active involvement in local professional organizations is a plus
