Plant Engineer
Job Description:
Our client, a global leader in manufacturing, is seeking a Plant Engineer to join its team in DuPage County, IL. Reporting to the Plant Manager, this role is responsible for leading plant maintenance operations with a focus on reliability, safety, and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will drive performance through Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), Maintenance Excellence, and the Sonoco Performance System (SPS).
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead plant safety programs and ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local environmental and safety regulations.
- Implement and sustain a reliability-centered maintenance strategy to improve machine uptime, OEE, and reduce operational costs.
- Provide leadership to the maintenance team, ensuring high standards of equipment performance and plant condition.
- Identify and support technical training and development for maintenance staff.
- Manage capital projects, participate in budgeting, and control departmental spending.
- Apply root cause analysis to critical equipment failures and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Collaborate with plant leadership to drive operational improvements and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Maintenance, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3+ years leading a maintenance department in a manufacturing setting or 5+ years of supervisory experience in manufacturing.
- Strong understanding of OSHA safety standards and ability to implement preventive measures.
- Proficient in root cause analysis tools (FMEA, 5 Whys, etc.) and developing countermeasures.
- Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and predictive maintenance systems.
- Experience with CMMS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Background in TPM or reliability engineering preferred.
- Strong leadership, communication, and project management skills.
