Mechanical Engineer
Job Description:
Responsibilities and Duties
- Develop HVAC system and plumbing designs for various project types, including commercial, industrial, and institutional buildings with guidance from a senior engineer.
- Design and analysis of fire protection systems
- Complete calculations related to mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection systems, including use of of design software for mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection systems
- Production of mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection drawings
- Assist in the development of study or report documents
- Review of submittals from contractors
- Response to contractor questions
- Conduct field investigations, including site visits, surveys, and assessments of existing systems
- Ensure designs comply with local, state, and federal codes and regulations, including ASHRAE standards
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Construction Engineering
- Experience with design of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems
- Professional Engineering (PE) license or Engineer In Training (EIT) licensure or certification.
- 3-10 years of experience in HVAC design for commercial, industrial, or institutional projects
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and other HVAC design software (e.g., Trane TRACE, Carrier HAP, etc.)
- Ability to work effectively with other team members and clients - ideal candidate will have experience meeting independently with clients
- Problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage a few key projects and deadlines effectively with input from more senior engineers.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
