Plant Accounting Manager

 Job Description:

Our client, a major global manufacturing company, is seeking a Plant Accounting Manager to lead all accounting operations at their Lawton, OK facility. This role is responsible for overseeing plant-level financial reporting, internal controls, inventory, and compliance, while partnering closely with both plant leadership and corporate finance teams.

Position Overview

The Plant Accounting Manager will own the monthly financial close, maintain robust internal controls aligned with SOX compliance, and manage inventory accounting. This position also provides financial insights and analysis to plant leadership, supports cost accounting processes, and plays a key role in talent development within the plant finance team.

Key Responsibilities

Lead monthly and quarterly financial close processes for the plant, ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP and corporate accounting policies.

Manage plant-level financial reporting, including cost analysis, inventory, and special projects.

Oversee internal control systems in accordance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements and remediate any identified deficiencies in a timely manner.

Direct the standard cost-setting process and maintain accurate material cost data.

Collaborate with corporate headquarters and cross-functional teams to ensure timely and accurate reporting.

Partner with Plant Leadership to support operational goals, financial performance, and strategic decision-making.

Supervise and develop local finance personnel, fostering talent growth and succession planning.

Coordinate and manage annual physical inventory processes and ensure inventory accuracy.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related business field.

Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting or financial analysis experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment.

Prior leadership experience is preferred.

Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and internal control frameworks (SOX compliance).

Experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred), Hyperion, and Microsoft Office tools.

Strong communication, analytical, and leadership skills.

Proven ability to influence change, drive process improvements, and deliver insights that support business objectives.
