Position: Direct Procurement Manager
Overview
A growing international consumer products organization is seeking a Direct Procurement Manager to support expansion of its imported product portfolio across multiple markets. This role is responsible for developing supplier partnerships, introducing new brands and product lines, and driving commercial performance across assigned categories.
The position works closely with commercial, marketing, and operations teams to build scalable supplier relationships, negotiate favorable terms, and support profitable growth in a fast-paced, data-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and introduce new brands, retailers, and product partners to expand imported product offerings and market presence
- Manage commercial performance across assigned categories, including key metrics such as GMV, revenue, and profitability
- Negotiate supplier agreements, trading terms, and commercial partnerships that support revenue and margin growth
- Collaborate with suppliers to develop marketing plans, product promotions, and sales strategies
- Secure supplier-funded marketing support and promotional resources to improve product visibility and sales performance
- Source and onboard new suppliers globally, managing contracting and launch preparation
- Develop and maintain supplier management processes, including evaluation, relationship management, and performance improvement initiatives
- Partner with internal teams to ensure alignment between procurement, logistics, marketing, and operational planning
Key Performance Indicators
- Growth in imported product sales and market share within assigned categories
- Improvements in category profitability through optimized pricing, sourcing, and supplier terms
- Marketing and promotional support secured from suppliers
- Successful onboarding and performance of new supplier partnerships
- Effective supplier performance management, including retention of high-performing partners
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelors degree or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of experience in procurement, retail merchandising, import/export trade, or related commercial roles
- Category experience in golf, fishing, outdoor recreation, or related lifestyle product segments
- Demonstrated ability to develop and scale supplier or brand partnerships in international markets
- Strong commercial negotiation and supplier management capabilities
- Experience managing key business metrics such as revenue, GMV, and profitability
- Strong analytical and market awareness with the ability to identify growth opportunities
- Ability to operate in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment
Preferred
- Existing relationships with international suppliers or consumer product brands
- Experience working with major retailers or e-commerce platforms
- Experience establishing supplier evaluation frameworks and performance management processes
- Background working with cross-border sourcing or international product distribution
Work Environment
This role supports an international business and may involve collaboration with global teams and periodic international travel depending on business needs.
