Product Engineer / Product Lead Engineer

 Job Description:

Product Engineer / Product Lead Engineer

AI Automation Platform | Healthcare Operations | New York Hybrid

About the Company

We are representing a fast-moving, founder-led AI startup building automation software for complex healthcare operations.

The company is using applied AI and workflow automation to reduce administrative burden across provider organizations, helping teams spend less time on paperwork and more time on patient care. The platform integrates deeply into operational systems and automates complex processes such as eligibility checks, prior authorization, benefits verification, revenue cycle workflows, and related administrative tasks.

This is an opportunity to join an early, high-caliber team building mission-critical AI products in one of the largest and most inefficient sectors of the US economy.

The Role

We are looking for a hands-on Product Engineer / Product Lead Engineer to own a meaningful product area within an AI-native healthcare automation platform.

This role sits at the intersection of product, engineering, operations, and applied AI. You will work closely with engineers and healthcare workflow specialists to understand messy real-world processes, turn them into clear product specs, and ship automation that creates measurable operational impact.

You should be the kind of person who can talk to users, map a workflow, define the product path, write or review technical specs, collaborate with engineering, and stay close to the data after launch.

This role is ideal for someone who wants to grow into a broader product engineering leadership position over time.

What You'll Do

Own an end-to-end product area within a healthcare automation platform.

Map complex operational workflows and turn them into clear product roadmaps.

Define success metrics, track performance, and use data to guide iteration.

Lead discovery sessions with users, operators, engineers, and subject-matter experts.

Write clear product specs for AI-powered and workflow-driven features.

Prototype, test, and ship thin, high-impact product releases.

Work with engineering teams to decide when to use models, rules, APIs, workflow logic, or human-in-the-loop review.

Run customer pilots, gather structured feedback, and improve the product quickly.

Build dashboards and feedback loops to monitor accuracy, latency, operational efficiency, and business impact.

Help design secure, compliant product workflows that protect sensitive healthcare data.

Contribute to product quality, auditability, and continuous improvement.

What We're Looking For

2+ years of experience building and shipping 0-to-1 products in high-performing technology environments.

Strong product intuition combined with real engineering fluency.

Ability to translate messy operational workflows into structured product and engineering requirements.

Comfort working with AI-enabled products, automation, workflow systems, APIs, or data-heavy platforms.

Strong analytical mindset; you care about metrics, accuracy, cycle time, operational impact, and measurable improvement.

Clear communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Ability to work closely with engineers, operators, and leadership in a fast-moving environment.

Strong ownership mentality and comfort operating in ambiguity.

Security and privacy awareness, especially around sensitive or regulated data.

Interest in healthcare, operational automation, applied AI, or complex workflow products.

Nice to Have

Experience in healthcare technology, revenue cycle management, insurance workflows, claims, eligibility, prior authorization, or clinical operations.

Experience with AI agents, LLMs, model-assisted workflows, rules engines, or human-in-the-loop automation.

Familiarity with tools such as React, Next.js, FastAPI, PostgreSQL, AWS, Docker, Terraform, Datadog, Sentry, or similar technologies.

Previous startup or high-growth company experience.

Why This Role Is Exciting

You will own meaningful product surface area from the beginning.

You will build AI products that directly reduce operational waste in healthcare.

You will work on real-world workflows where product quality has immediate financial and operational impact.

You will have a path toward broader product engineering leadership.

You will join a high-caliber team working at the intersection of healthcare, AI, operations, and infrastructure.
