Business Development Manager

The Role

The main purpose of a Vospers Business Development Manager is a field-based role and is responsible for managing and growing key trade accounts within a defined territory, supporting both new business development and existing customer retention.

Youll be working closely with branch teams, regional management, and suppliers to execute local sales strategies, deliver on targets, and represent the business to independent garages, Bodyshops, and key accounts in the automotive market.

Key Responsibilities

Sales Performance & Business Growth

  • Achieve sales and margin targets across your territory
  • Identify, target, and convert new business opportunities
  • Maximise account penetration through upselling, cross-selling, and promotional activity
  • Analyse and act on sales reports, business intelligence, and customer spend data
  • Contribute to the design and execution of local sales strategies and campaigns

Customer & Account Management

  • Manage a portfolio of high-value customer accounts with a focus on retention and growth
  • Build strong, long-lasting relationships with garages, fleet operators, and trade buyers
  • Provide expert support on product selection, availability, and technical queries
  • Ensure pricing and discount levels reflect account value and commercial agreements
  • Resolve credit queries, delivery issues, and support warranty or returns processes

Collaboration & Influence

  • Work closely with branch staff, telesales, delivery drivers, and regional management to provide a joined-up service
  • Influence internal teams to prioritise customer needs and identify improvement opportunities
  • Act as a bridge between the field and the branch representing customer interests internally
  • Liaise with suppliers to stay updated on new lines and initiatives

Territory Management

  • Plan and prioritise daily customer visits, ensuring a structured call cycle
  • Maintain accurate CRM records, contact history, and sales pipeline updates
  • Monitor competitor activity and report on threats or opportunities in the market
  • Attend regional trade events or supplier training days where required

About You What We're Looking For

  • Proven experience in B2B sales, trade parts, or key account management
  • Strong commercial awareness and understanding of the automotive market.
  • Able to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders from workshop owners to senior leadership
  • Excellent negotiation, influencing, and presentation skills
  • Comfortable using CRM, sales tracking tools, and Excel to interpret data and drive decision-making
  • Skilled in, or able to learn DMS & Manufacture linked systems. (E.g. Keyloop/CDK, Dealer portal)
  • Resilient, target-driven, and able to work independently in a fast-paced field environment
  • Full UK driving licence required

Hours

Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm (flexibility required based on customer needs)
