Control Room Officer

 Job Description:

Job Purpose

The overall purpose of this role is to help secure the clients' premises and assets by utilizing CCTV surveillance to identify break-ins and investigate criminal cases such as theft, vandalism, and other misdemeanors.

Responsibilities & Accountabilities

  • Surveillance - Systematically monitor designated areas from the control room.
  • Raise Alarms - Identify and respond to break-ins by raising alarms and alerting the security guards on duty.
  • Control Access of Restricted Areas -  CCTV footage helping to resolve security issues concerning theft of items, equipment, property, staff, and documents.
  • Reporting - Prepare an analytical report on security details in accordance with the client's operating procedures.
  • Retrieval of Recordings - provide record footage to aid in the investigation of cases.
  • Make recommendations - Utilize vantage point advantage to identify security risks such as blind spots and gaps in the fence or wall and recommend changes.

Key Performance Indicators

  • Detection and recognition of prohibited items.
  • Constant communication with guards on duty.
  • Develop weekly progress reports and a final report of findings on all company cases investigated.
  • Follow up on all requests from the staff initiated within 24 hours and issue progress reports on pending cases.
  • Assist on security advisories issued periodically as and when necessary.
  • Propose and implement staff development initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications, Regulatory & Legal Requirements

  • Must have KCSE certification.
  • Able to speak English and Swahili.
  • Aged between 25 and 35 years.
  • At least 2 years' experience working with CCTV systems; A SIA CCTV license would be advantageous.
  • Must have a valid standard first aid and CPR certificate.
  • Must have undergone Security and Counterterrorism Awareness Training.
  • Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check.
  • Certificate of Good Conduct (less than six months from the date of issue).

Continuous Professional Development

  • To attend at least two new security and/or transport-related trainings per year.
