Hospital Administrator
Job Description:
Patient Advocacy: Improve patient experiences, provide solutions for grievances, and enhance hospital systems for future patients. Assist patients, their families, and caregivers with rights, crisis intervention, customer service, and conflict resolution.
Financial Management: Manage budgets, purchases, costs, and forecasting. Educate patients on entitlements and options through public and private benefits.
Information Processing: Correctly store medical documentation using technological skills to utilize record-keeping software, ensuring easy access and communication of information within the required personnel.
Community Relations: Educate the community on government policies to reach ideal outcomes and ensure strict compliance within the facility. Strategic Planning & Healthcare Marketing: Deliver health-related messages to the community, corporates, and insurance companies. Stay updated with industry trends, current events, and economic changes to keep information relevant and build beneficial relationships.
Equipment & Facilities Management: Oversee the purchase and maintenance of medical and non-medical equipment, ensuring facilities meet current regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Organize Hospital Services: Coordinate various hospital services, including triaging patients, taking patient information, authorizing admissions, setting appointments, and organizing procedures.
Oversee Hospital Development: Implement and improve programs and procedures, conduct quality assurance, and evaluate public relations.
Use Financial Acumen: Make logical decisions, use good judgment and budgeting concepts, and manage budgets effectively.
Maintain Documentation: Ensure accurate documentation and organized filing systems for medical records.
Monitor Stock Levels: Maintain hospital stock levels and ensure timely ordering and receiving of stock.
Manage Staff (HRM): Oversee medical and non-medical staff, including cleaners, administration staff, and security.
Ensure Compliance: Verify compliance with government-determined regulations and insurance company policies.
Assist with Recruitment and Training: Screen potential candidates, conduct interviews, provide training, and assist with staff development.
Serve as a Liaison: Facilitate communication between HMC/Board, healthcare staff, and department managers.
Coordinate Staff Scheduling: Organize staff schedules, ensuring adequate coverage for planned and unplanned leave.
Participate in Tenders and Contracts Preparation: Assist in preparing tenders and contracts.
Procurement Responsibility:
- Manage hospital procurement orders and ensure timely delivery of pharmaceuticals and
- equipment.
- Monitor stock levels, avoid overstocking, and ensure timely pharmaceutical orders.
- Liaise with pharmaceutical suppliers for deliveries and stock verification.
- Manage relationships with medical representatives of pharmaceutical firms.
- Monitor credit limits of pharmaceutical firms in coordination with the Accounts department.
Qualifications Required:
- Minimum Academic Qualification: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Business Management, Nursing, Social Sciences, or any other business or medical-related field.
- Additional Qualifications (Advantageous): Training in hospital management.
Experience Required:
- General Work Experience: Minimum of 8 years' experience in a hospital administrator role or similar position.
- Specific Experience (Level/Discipline/Years): 3 years in healthcare/hospital industry.
