Job Overview:

To better serve the global auto industry electric vehicle trend in the United States, CATL, through its U.S.-based subsidiary Contemporary Amperex Technology Kentucky, LLC (CATK), is seeking a full-time and salary-exempted Materials Controller to join the dynamic team. The Materials Controller will be responsible for organizing and planning material requirements based on orders and forecasts, ensuring timely delivery of materials, controlling inventory turnover, managing obsolete stock, and monitoring supplier performance. This role will also assist in the construction of information and process systems to support the company's logistics and procurement operations. The successful candidate will possess strong analytical skills, excellent problem-solving abilities, and effective communication and collaboration skills.

Essential Functions:

  • Organize and plan material requirements according to customer orders and sales forecasts.

  • Develop and release purchasing plans to ensure materials are available to meet production schedules.

  • Collaborate with production, sales, and inventory teams to align material planning with business needs.

  • Track the timely delivery of materials from suppliers.

  • Provide early warning of potential delivery issues and take proactive steps to resolve them.

  • Ensure continuous material supply to avoid production delays and disruptions.

  • Control inventory turnover rate to optimize stock levels and reduce holding costs.

  • Identify and manage obsolete stock, including disposition or reallocation to minimize financial impact.

  • Implement inventory management best practices to maintain accuracy and efficiency.

  • Monitor supplier delivery performance and identify any abnormalities or issues.

  • Work with suppliers to improve delivery reliability and overall performance.

  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance the supplier delivery rate and ensure timely material availability.

  • Assist in the development and enhancement of information systems to support material planning and procurement processes.

  • Participate in the creation and improvement of process systems to streamline operations and increase efficiency.

  • Ensure that information and process systems align with company goals and industry best practices.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • Proven experience in material planning, procurement, or supply chain management.

  • Strong knowledge of inventory management principles and practices.

  • Experience with ERP systems, particularly in the supply chain or procurement modules.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel for data analysis and reporting.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to maintain a full-time work schedule with regular in-person attendance is required for this position.

  • Ability to interact professionally with individuals of varied backgrounds and skill levels.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to move around work sites, which may include walking, standing, and climbing ladders or stairs.

  • Flexibility to bend, kneel, or crouch, particularly when inspecting installations or troubleshooting

  • Capability to lift and carry moderate weights, typically up to 25-50 pounds, as some equipment and materials might be heavy.

  • Occasional lifting of heavier items may be required, depending on the project.

  • Ability to work in various environments, including offices, construction sites, and manufacturing facilities.

  • Willingness and ability to travel to various job sites, which may require driving or other forms of transportation.
