Job Overview:
To better serve the global auto industry electric vehicle trend in the United States, CATL, through its U.S.-based subsidiary, CATK, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Equipment Maintenance Engineer with a strong background in tooling and fixture design. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the preventive maintenance, problem
diagnosis, and improvement of equipment, including tooling and fixtures. This role requires expertise in mechanical design, problem-solving, and project management, with a focus on ensuring the efficient operation and maintenance of various equipment within our facility.
Essential Functions:
Formulate and review preventive maintenance plans, organize and lead maintenance work, and propose improvements to enhance equipment reliability and efficiency.
Diagnose, recover, and improve equipment, including wire bodies, fixtures, auxiliary equipment, first-piece equipment, and stand-alone machinery.
Design and develop tooling and fixtures to support manufacturing processes, ensuring high precision and efficiency.
Create detailed 2D/3D CAD drawings and mechanical layout drawings for tooling and fixtures. Manage the procurement and inventory of mechanical standard parts, wearing parts, and non-standard spare parts to reduce costs.
Develop and implement training programs to upgrade the skills of technicians and engineers, ensuring a high level of technical competence within the team.
Conduct regular safety inspections, diagnose safety issues, and lead the implementation of safety improvement plans.
Debug and verify equipment in cutting and pulling processes, summarize improvement suggestions, and implement measures to enhance efficiency.
Manage daily equipment problem reporting, process issues, and analyze weekly equipment data to generate special improvement and maintenance lists, and implement downtime (DT) reduction measures.
Facilitate on-site communication and coordination among regional departments.
Ensure that all staff maintenance tasks are implemented and complete other tasks assigned by leadership.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Automation, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in the automotive manufacturing industry.
Expertise in motor drives, pneumatics, hydraulic transmission, material applications, machining, and mechanical structures.
Proficiency in reading and interpreting 2D/3D mechanical drawings.
Experience with mechanical automation and logistics systems (robot fixtures, welding fixtures, rollers, AGV, RGV).
Knowledge in non-bovine fluids, electrochemistry, metal and non-metal welding.
Understanding of mechanical materials, reducers, motors, and transmission products.
Ability to perform load calculations, part life calculations, and stress analysis.
Experience in planning and leading maintenance for EV, EP, and CTE sections.
Proven ability to improve equipment performance and stability.
Strong logical thinking, cross-departmental communication, and project management skills.
Ability to maintain a full-time work schedule with regular in-person attendance is required for this position.
Ability to interact professionally with individuals of varied backgrounds and skill level.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to move around work sites, which may include walking, standing, and climbing ladders or stairs.
Flexibility to bend, kneel, or crouch, particularly when inspecting installations or troubleshooting.
Capability to lift and carry moderate weights, typically up to 25-50 pounds. Occasional lifting of heavier items may be required.
Ability to work in various environments, including offices, construction sites, and manufacturing facilities.
Willingness and ability to travel to various job sites, which may require driving or other forms of transportation.
