JOB OVERVIEW:

An excellent opportunity exists for a Senior SAP/Vertex Consultant to join our client's team. This role focuses on providing expert guidance and support for SAP tax processes and their integration with Vertex tax solutions, ensuring compliance and optimisation across global tax landscapes.

DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:

The Senior SAP/Vertex Consultant will be responsible for the implementation, configuration, and support of Vertex tax solutions within SAP environments (S/4HANA and ECC). The role requires working closely with finance, tax, and technical teams to deliver end-to-end tax automation solutions, improve indirect tax determination processes, and ensure seamless integration between SAP and Vertex systems. The consultant will also provide expertise in designing tax calculation rules, supporting audits, and delivering enhancements aligned to business and regulatory requirements.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Strong functional knowledge of SAP Finance (FI) and SAP Sales and Distribution (SD) modules, with a focus on tax configuration.
  • In-depth expertise in the Vertex O Series and its integration with SAP.
  • Experience with indirect tax determination, compliance, and reporting processes.
  • Solid understanding of global tax requirements and regulations.
  • Ability to design, configure, and maintain tax rules within SAP and Vertex environments.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for tax-related issues across SAP and Vertex interfaces.
  • Proficiency in preparing functional specifications, documentation, and training materials.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional and multi-national teams.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • SAP certification in Finance (FI) or related modules is advantageous.
  • Vertex O Series certification or equivalent training is highly desirable.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Minimum of 6-8 years of experience in SAP Finance or SAP SD with strong tax configuration expertise.
  • At least 3 years of hands-on experience implementing and supporting Vertex tax solutions integrated with SAP.
  • Proven track record in full lifecycle Vertex-SAP integration projects, including requirements gathering, design, configuration, testing, and deployment.
  • Experience in supporting tax compliance processes and responding to tax audits.
  • Familiarity with SAP S/4HANA and ECC environments.

ADVANTAGEOUS SKILLS:

  • Knowledge of SAP S/4HANA Central Finance and its tax implications.
  • Exposure to other tax automation tools or third-party tax engines.
  • Familiarity with SAP Fiori apps for tax processes.
  • Understanding of cloud-based Vertex solutions and hybrid deployment models.
  • Experience in Agile project delivery and DevOps environments.
