EMPLOYMENT TYPE:

A large retail chain based in Cape Town.

LOCATION:

Cape Town (working on site, 5 days a week, with flexibility).

JOB OVERVIEW:

Unlock business potential through data analysis. Translate raw data into actionable insights about the client's products and services. Identify and evaluate new opportunities by analysing both internal and external data sources. Collaborate with others to leverage data-driven strategies to improve efficiency in processes and product development.

DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:

  • System Improvement (SI) Delivery.
  • Have a clear understanding of the business requirements of the process or product in order to get value from the data.
  • Create specs for the business and work with them to ensure the correct tables and views are designed to use the data efficiently.
  • Ensure the correct processes are implemented to provide accurate data within the agreed timelines.
  • Support existing processes and new systems improvement projects.
  • Develop reports and dashboards, and conduct Descriptive Analysis
    Weekly and Monthly Reports, as required (including the automation thereof, if possible).
  • Respond to ad-hoc report requests.
  • Design and create dashboards, as per business requirements.
  • Deliver insights to the business (descriptive analytics).
  • Fully understands ad-hoc requests from the business for analysis to be able to deliver insights that enable the business to drive value and efficiencies.
  • Present analysis and recommendations to various role players.
  • Enable predictive and prescriptive modelling projects.
  • Formulate the business problem and create the requirements in conjunction with the business owners.
  • Develop project guidelines (including key players, resources required, and timelines).

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Above-average computer literacy (MS Office, Excel, Google Workspace).
  • Basic Big Query SQL.
  • Excellent knowledge of spreadsheets.
  • Knowledge of data modelling, data cleaning, data enrichment, and visualisation techniques.
  • Comfortable working and presenting to all across the organisation.
  • Analytical mindset and good problem-solving skills.
  • Have a creative and curious mind.
  • Proactive.
  • Can work independently.
  • Able to take responsibility and be self-motivated.
  • Comfortable with data analytics.
  • Provide insights into the data analysed.
  • Able to develop ideas and share them clearly (in non-technical terms, when required.)

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Business Degree with Analytical/Commercial subjects, or Bachelor's Degree in Computer Sc., Maths, Eng., or equivalent NQF level 8 qualification.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Minimum 3 years of analyst experience, preferably in a financial services, logistics, or e-commerce environment, with a focus on delivering insights.

ADVANTAGEOUS SKILLS:

  • Retail experience.
  • Understanding of statistics.
  • Knowledge of data visualisation tools (e.g. Data Studio, Tableau.)
