Senior Engineer, Development Planning

 Job Description:

Report to: Head of Planning Department

Client: A subsidiary of a leading oil and gas exploration and production company.

Location: Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Type of hiring: Contract

Responsibilities:

I. Project Development Planning:

  1. Formulate and propose development possibilities for the Project in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, considering treatment and transportation facilities, production well, and CCS requirements.
  2. Coordination and liaison with reservoir engineers, geologists, geophysicists, engineering, and commercial teams to complete long-term development studies and field development plan (FDP) reports relevant to the Project, ensuring project objectives are met.
  3. Drive the development of integrated planning for project field development and Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) as part of the Project.
  4. Coordinate CCS-related activities, including but not limited to CCS regulation, CCS EIA, storage field depletion and abandonment plans, and the development of a Measurement, Monitoring, and Verification (MMV) Plan customized specifically for the Project.
  5. Prepare comprehensive reference papers for pre-projects and work closely with the Pre-Project Team to guarantee timely and high-quality study deliverables.

II. Compile Cost Data and Perform Economic Evaluations:

  1. Compile accurate and up-to-date cost data for the various facilities of the Project.
  2. Create capital and operating cost schedules, as well as production profiles, for the Project.
  3. Conduct extensive economic analyses to establish the profitability and viability of various Project development alternatives and scenarios.

III. Optimize the Project Work Program and Budget:

  1. Manage and optimize the Project's work plans and expenditures in order to gather necessary information within set timetables and priorities.
  2. Ensure optimal resource usage and alignment with project goals and objectives.

Qualifications:

  • University Degree in Engineering or a related field
  • 10 years of experience in the development of planning (or Process Engineer/Petroleum Engineer/Project Engineer) with extensive experience in development planning, specifically in the oil and gas industry, with a focus on project-specific development studies and Field Development Plan (FDP) reports for Greenfield projects.
  • Proven ability to undertake economic evaluations and cost analyses, as well as strong knowledge and skills in gas field development and CCS projects.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with an emphasis on maximizing field development plans.
  • Excellent project management and organizing skills.
