Asset Integrity Engineer

KEY OBJECTIVES

  • The Asset Integrity Engineer will provide practical and technical engineering support to ensure the integrity and operability of all company operating facilities.
  • Collaborating with the Head of Asset Integrity to develop, implement, and maintain a fit-for-purpose Asset Integrity Management program.
  • To effectively identify, evaluate, and rectify potential and existing risks in accordance with local, international, and corporate standards.
  • Responsible for fostering a "Safety First" and "EP SPIRIT" work culture among direct reports, inspectors, contractors, and colleagues.
  • Maintaining control over OPEX/CAPEX spending related to asset integrity activities, with a focus on cost consciousness.
  • Responsible for preparing work scopes, specifications, and technical evaluation criteria to support the company's procurement process in securing contracts and service agreements as needed.
  • Serving as the Company Representative during routine and non-routine offshore activities.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Ensure that asset integrity-related activities are carried out promptly and in accordance with the plan.
  • Collaborate and liaise with asset integrity discipline engineers to identify, assess, and categorize anomalies, ensuring that these anomalies are rectified in line with approved procedures.
  • Conduct Risk-Based Inspection (RBI) assessments for piping and pressure vessels as necessary.
  • Support the structure discipline engineer in performing structure RBI/RBUI when required.
  • Assist Senior Discipline Engineers in Asset Life Extension (ALE) related tasks.
  • Offer technical guidance to engineering personnel, asset operators, and contractors.
  • Prepare scopes of work, work packages, and equipment repair plans or procedures as needed.
  • Interpret and analyze equipment condition data to determine the fitness-for-service of equipment, applying relevant engineering codes and best practices.
  • Conduct incident investigations and root cause failure analysis (RCFA) for environmental releases from fixed equipment.
  • Explore and introduce cost-effective new technologies related to asset integrity, inspection, and maintenance of mechanical equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Material Science or an equivalent qualification, preferably with Honours.
  • A minimum of 5 years of hands-on and diverse experience in the oil and gas industry, with more than 3 years spent specifically in the role of an Asset Integrity Engineer.
  • Professional engineering certification, experience and intimate working knowledge with international codes, standards, recommended practice such as ASME VIII, ASME B31.3, ASME PCC 2, API RP 510, API RP 570, API 598, API 579, API RP 583, API RP 571, API RP 2SIM, and any other professional certification related to Asset Integrity is a mandatory requirement.
  • Possess extensive expertise in asset integrity management methods and techniques, which encompass RBI assessment, corrosion control, integrity inspection, advanced NDT, fitness-for-service analysis, root cause failure analysis/investigation, written examination scheme, implementation of inspection scopes during turnarounds/shutdowns, and overseeing the performance evaluation and management of structural integrity inspections.
  • Familiar with tools for conducting root cause failure analysis (RCFA) and adept at handling failure investigations.
  • Physically capable and qualified to work offshore in Sarawak and Sabah for any asset integrity-related activities.
  • Possess knowledge and experience with Asset Integrity Management Software Systems, which is considered an additional asset.
  • Experienced in contractor management, with a proven track record of successfully delivering projects while maintaining a high level of safety performance. Demonstrates effective leadership of action-oriented teams.
  • A self-motivated, efficient, methodical, analytical, and results-driven individual, showcasing a demonstrated ability to achieve ambitious objectives.
  • Proficient in the English language, exhibiting clear articulation, effective presentation skills, and technical writing capabilities.
