Project and Engineering Manager
Job Description:

Key Responsibilities:
- Develop a high-performing Projects and Engineering team for $100+ million greenfield projects and ongoing brownfield projects.
- Lead the department to achieve functional objectives through goal-setting, performance management, recruitment, and staff motivation.
- Establish performance expectations for team members, regularly evaluate their progress, and provide constructive feedback.
- Identify strengths and areas for development in team members, creating personalised development plans.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning through coaching and mentoring.
- Address performance issues or conflicts in a timely and professional manner.
- Direct the preparation and consolidation of budgets for greenfield and brownfield projects.
- Monitor financial performance against the budget, identifying areas for improvement.
- Approve expenditures to initiate projects.
- Develop and implement functional policies, systems, processes, and controls to ensure compliance with procedural and legislative requirements.
- Ensure contractors' systems align with company standards.
- Lead the management of greenfield projects to ensure optimal design, planning, and execution within budget and timelines.
- Support finalisation of Concept Selection Decisions and rapid project maturation to FID within agreed timelines.
- Collaborate with other departments to decide on field development strategies.
- Oversee FEED studies to acquire necessary technical documents for the EPC bid package.
- Develop contract strategies and tender documents for EPC contracts, working with Procurement to define terms.
- Execute multiple bids for contractors and sub-contractors.
- Verify contractors' bid proposals for compliance with company standards.
- Ensure contractors adhere to agreed policies, processes, and systems during the EPC phase.
- Handover completed facilities to the Production/Operations Group for commissioning and start-up.
- Manage the brownfield projects portfolio to ensure safe, efficient, and timely execution within budget.
- Ensure compliance with QHSE policies, procedures, and controls across the Projects and Engineering function.
- Ensure contractor work adheres to HSE standards outlined in the project proposal.
- Recommend continuous improvements in Projects and Engineering activities, adopting international best practices and updated project management standards.
- Ensure periodic progress reports are prepared for top management, reviewing contractor reports to ensure alignment with the EPC bid package and documenting lessons learnt.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Engineering with PMP qualification and comprehensive understanding of project management cycles and processes.
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in Projects and Engineering within the Oil & Gas sector, particularly with a leading oil and gas exploration and production company.
- Proven success in intensive project management, especially on greenfield projects in the upstream oil and gas industry, is essential.
- Strong skills in general and project management, coupled with effective communication, analytical, and interpersonal abilities, are required.
- Leadership, strategic thinking, teamwork, attention to detail, and flexibility.
- Proficiency in English, with outstanding written, spoken, and presentation abilities, is necessary.
