Drilling Engineer

Responsibilities:

  • Support drilling operations in compliance with HSSE and government regulations, ensuring safe, environmentally responsible practices and addressing Environment Impact Assessment Committee queries.
  • Follow company policies, procedures, and international standards to ensure a safe work environment, protect employee safety, and uphold product and environmental quality standards.
  • Create and update Authority for Expenditure (AFE) and Supplementary AFE for wells; monitor daily well costs.
  • Ensure all well designs align with company standards, including QA/QC of well paths and comprehensive risk assessments such as anti-collision.
  • Gather and analyse data from geologists and other partners to develop compliant well designs.
  • Collaborate with the subsurface department and contractors throughout well planning, from target consolidation to final well path design.
  • Draft and maintain the Drilling Program to guide field operations like drilling, casing, cementing, and completions.
  • Review geological data to select appropriate drill bits; evaluate vendor quotations and finalise bit specifications.
  • Collaborate with geological teams to select and implement the cementing program, ensuring compatibility with the formation profile.
  • Provide SCM with specifications and coordinate for long-lead items and equipment transfers as necessary.
  • Compile timely End of Well Reports (EOWR), conduct After Action Reviews, update lessons learned, and support report preparation for Well Delivery Managers.
  • Conduct initial technical assessments of vendors, provide recommendations, monitor contractor performance, and address issues through Undesired Event Reports (UER).
  • Oversee contract structure, plan for re-tendering, organise periodic service quality meetings, and ensure contractual compliance.
  • Ensure QA/QC of Daily Drilling Reports (DDR) and manage periodic reports to keep management informed.
  • Maintain and update the lesson learned database, promoting best practices and knowledge-sharing for future well operations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent, with a background in Drilling Engineering highly preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years in E&P Drilling, with at least 2 years directly in Drilling Engineering Design, Programming, or Drilling Operations.
  • Includes a minimum of 1-year offshore rotational experience as Rig Engineer/Supervisor, or alternatively 4 years in upstream oil & gas field operations.
  • Strong planning and organisational abilities.
  • Proficiency in Drilling Engineering and Operations.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Familiarity with drilling and completion equipment.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Proficient in both spoken and written Thai and English.
