Senior Reservoir Engineer

 Job Description:

Client: A subsidiary of a leading oil and gas exploration and production company

Location: Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Type of hiring: Contract

Main Responsibilities

  • Develop forecasts for the production of inputs used in economic models.
  • Create integrated reservoir inflow and tubing performance relationships for oil and gas reservoirs by matching production performance history.
  • Provide oversight and contribute to monthly, quarterly, and annual corporate and Petronas reserves evaluations.
  • Address all technical issues related to reservoir engineering and petroleum engineering tasks, ensuring accurate characterization of reservoir rock and fluid systems.
  • Formulate well production and deliverability profiles for various field production scenarios.
  • Provide technical oversight and input during milestone reviews for Field Development Plans (FDP) and Full Field Reviews (FFR), coordinating submissions for these processes.
  • Design production optimization programs for the production department and services companies, including the development of schedules and activity plans.
  • Collaborate with other technical and commercial disciplines (drilling, geology, production, planning, commercial) to integrate relevant data into reservoir asset evaluations.
  • Compile regular progress reports, project status updates, reserves reviews, and development option assessments to support management decision-making.
  • Contribute to the development of best practices in core Reservoir Engineering skills within the subsurface team.

Qualifications

  • Degree or masters in petroleum engineering or a similar engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, with a focus on field developments, reserves evaluation, simulation modeling, and development engineering.
  • Demonstrate significant practical application of reservoir engineering principles to optimize reserves, recovery factors, and production in oil and gas reservoirs.
  • Have extensive experience in waterflood management and the formulation of reservoir management plans.
  • Exhibit proficiency in initiating and overseeing workover and infill drilling activities.
  • Lead projects and coordinate teams, displaying an interest in future leadership roles.
  • Have a track record of skills development and mentoring of junior engineers.
  • Possess computing skills in Eclipse 100, Eclipse Office, TNav, Petrel, Saphir, GAP, Prosper, MBAL, and Microsoft Office.
  • Be self-motivated, capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrate team building, project leadership, and supervision skills.
  • Exhibit proven negotiating, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English.
