General Manager (Power Plant)

 Job Description:


The general manager will be responsible for overseeing the efficient and effective operation of a power plant. Reporting to the Managing Director, the General Manager will lead a team of professionals and ensure compliance with safety regulations, environmental standards, and company policies. The role requires strong leadership skills, technical expertise in power plant operations, and a focus on achieving operational excellence.

Responsibilities:

Plant Operations Management:

  • Direct and oversee all aspects of power plant operations, including generation, transmission, and distribution.
  • Ensure the plant operates efficiently, meeting production targets, and adhering to quality standards.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess plant performance and implement improvements as needed.
  • Develop and implement operational strategies to optimize plant efficiency, reliability, and availability.

Safety and Environmental Compliance:

  • Implement and enforce safety protocols, ensuring a safe working environment for all employees.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations, industry standards, and environmental laws.
  • Develop and maintain effective risk management practices to mitigate operational risks.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify areas for improvement.

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Lead, motivate, and develop a team of professionals across various functions within the power plant.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide guidance and support to team members, promoting their professional growth and development.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, set goals, and provide feedback to ensure high performance.

Budgeting and Cost Management:

  • Develop and manage the annual operating budget for the power plant.
  • Monitor expenses, identify cost-saving opportunities, and implement effective cost control measures.
  • Optimize resource allocation to maximize operational efficiency while maintaining budgetary constraints.

Stakeholder Management:

  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders, including regulatory authorities, suppliers, and community representatives.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to ensure alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Represent the power plant in meetings, conferences, and industry events.

Qualifications

  • Master of Science or Bachelor degree in Engineering
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in thermal power plant operations.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a plant manager, operations manager, or maintenance manager in a large thermal power plant
  • Experience should include working in a mine-mouth, coal-fired, or combined cycle power plant with a minimum capacity of 600 MW.
  • Safety discipline and mindset
  • Leadership and multidisciplinary capacities with excellent managerial, supervisory, and communication skills
  • Good communication in Thai and English
