Geologist (Development Geology & Reservoir Characterization)

Location: Bangkok, Thailand (Onsite, 5 Days per Week)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Geologist to support subsurface development activities for producing oil and gas assets. The successful candidate will play a key role in reservoir characterization, seismic interpretation, prospect evaluation, field development planning, and well planning activities, working closely with multidisciplinary subsurface and asset teams.

This position is ideal for candidates with strong experience in development geology, hydrocarbon exploration, reservoir characterization, and seismic interpretation within the Oil & Gas industry.

Key Responsibilities

Development Geology & Reservoir Characterization

  • Interpret geological and subsurface data to support reservoir modeling and field development activities.
  • Develop and maintain reservoir maps, geological models, and subsurface evaluations.
  • Analyze well data, geological correlations, and reservoir properties to optimize field performance.
  • Support reservoir characterization studies and resource assessments.

Seismic Interpretation & Prospect Evaluation

  • Perform seismic interpretation to identify exploration and development opportunities.
  • Generate, evaluate, and mature leads and prospects for drilling and field development.
  • Conduct volumetric assessments and contribute to reserves and resources evaluations.
  • Assess geological risks and support prospect ranking and portfolio management.

Well Planning & Operations Support

  • Contribute geological input to well planning, development drilling, and appraisal activities.
  • Collaborate with geophysicists, reservoir engineers, and drilling teams to support well delivery.
  • Monitor drilling activities and provide geological recommendations during operations.
  • Support well intervention, workover, and infill drilling opportunities.

Field Development & Business Planning

  • Provide geological support for field development planning and reservoir management strategies.
  • Contribute technical inputs to annual business plans, production forecasts, and development projects.
  • Support economic evaluations and development opportunity assessments.
  • Assist in identifying opportunities to increase reserves and improve hydrocarbon recovery.

Continuous Improvement & Innovation

  • Stay updated on industry technologies and best practices in geology, seismic interpretation, and reservoir characterization.
  • Recommend new approaches and technologies to enhance subsurface understanding and asset value.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Geology, Geophysics, or a related discipline.
  • Advanced degree is preferred.

Experience

  • 8-12 years of experience in hydrocarbon exploration, appraisal, and field development within the Oil & Gas industry.
  • Strong experience in development geology and reservoir characterization.
  • Proven experience in:
    • Seismic Interpretation
    • Prospect Generation
    • Reserve and Resource Assessment
    • Well Planning
    • Field Development Studies
  • Experience working within multidisciplinary asset teams is highly desirable.

Technical Competencies

  • Strong understanding of geological, geophysical, and interdisciplinary geoscience principles.
  • Experience integrating geological, geophysical, and reservoir data to support development decisions.
  • Ability to perform subsurface evaluations and identify drilling opportunities.
  • Strong analytical, interpretation, visualization, and problem-solving skills.

Language Skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in both Thai and English.
