About the job Control Systems Programmer
Duties and Responsibilities:
Programs AV control processors, touch panels, routers, audio digital signal processors (DSP) and other peripherals to support instructional technology in the classrooms.
- Sets priorities and serves as the lead for media and AV projects. Participates in and manage all phases of a project from concept to system implementation and user training.
- Performs general installation, device configuration, and programming of control systems. Provides programming and graphic touch panel interface layouts for integrated audiovisual systems using various source code.
- Conducts in-house system testing, validation, and preparations for installation.
- Interprets requirements and block diagrams, implements user interfaces and writes control code to control various types of AV and multimedia control system equipment.
- Designs or fabricates connection systems for multimedia facilities. Completes design, prepares required drawings, diagrams, layouts, power requirements, air flow and temperature requirements.
- Installs and specifies cabling systems, wires, control systems, cables, and media equipment related to complex technical and electronic equipment. Configures multimedia equipment for correct operation.
- Analyzes technical problems with multimedia systems and equipment and perform major repairs.
- Performs technical set-up for video, audio and multi-image presentations and provides technical support. Sets up, troubleshoots, and repairs media systems and equipment.
- Researches and recommends multimedia materials, equipment, and hardware systems used in support of educational and administrative programs as they exist or evolve. Recommends replacement of existing equipment, software, and hardware.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Required Minimum Qualifications: Education and Experience:
- Bachelors degree and two years related experience OR
- Associates degree and four years related experience
Knowledge of:
- Microsoft Office Professional or similar applications
- Networking concepts
- Crestron control systems programming
- PA systems, AV control systems, and multimedia systems
Skilled in:
- Attention to detail while maintaining effective time and task management
- Delivering a high level of customer service
- Creative thinking and problem solving to explore new technology, processes, and approaches
Ability to:
- Interpret signal flow diagrams, load program code and troubleshoot system components
- Set-up and operate multimedia equipment
- Organize and prioritize multiple, competing priorities to maximize personal and team effectiveness
- Effectively communicate verbally and in writing on a regular basis with internal and external customers, build relationships, manage customer expectations and take responsibility for a high level of service
- Work independently and effectively on multiple tasks
- Research information for problem solving
- Troubleshoot complex audio, video, switching and control systems issues
Licenses, Registration, Certifications, or Special Requirements:
- Regular physical attendance required
- Valid Florida Drivers License
- Foundations of Creston Programming
Preferred Qualifications: Ability to:
- Write and modify programming code for AV control systems

- Certified Technology Specialist (CTS)
- Creston Certified Programmer
- CompTIA Network+ Certification
- Certified Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA)
