JOB SUMMARY
Reporting to the Compliance Supervisor, this position enforces UC Davis Traffic and Parking Code/California Vehicle Code requirements, issues parking citations and provides motorist assistance services on campus. Directs traffic within parking facilities and assists patrons with parking related inquiries in the field. Conducts utilization surveys, identifies and reports facility deficiencies and transports customers as directed to fulfill program obligations.
POSITION INFORMATION
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Additional Physical Demands:
- Work outside in all weather conditions, and walk in heavily congested areas with rough and uneven surfaces.
- On a daily or weekly basis, lift, carry and move immobilization devices, barricades or electronic sign boards weighing up to 40 lbs.; have sufficient body movement, strength and mobility to perform assigned duties.
- Manual dexterity to perform motorist assistance services, utilize related equipment and troubleshoot minor repairs.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Employee is personally responsible for adhering to safety guidelines and procedures.
- Valid CA drivers license is required. Will participate in the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Pull Notice System.
- Will participate in preventive medical and monitoring programs.
- Adjust schedule to cover other shifts and work overtime to meet operational needs including weekends, holidays and evenings, often on short notice.
- Wear and maintain an approved uniform and adhere to TAPS uniform guidelines.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
Minimum Education/Experience
- Experience working with the public in a customer service environment.
- Experience with independently resolving conflicts and diffusing situations with angry customers.
- Experience making decisions and solving problems with minimal supervision, including exercising independent judgment.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA)
- Skills to use smart phone and Bluetooth technology/equipment.
- Computer skills using various applications/software such as Microsoft Excel, Outlook, etc.
- Skills to interpret legislation, policy and procedures and apply information to work product.
- Communication skills to provide guidance and instructions to customers. Ability to meet deadlines and maintain a high level of productivity.
Preferred:
Preferred Education/Experience
- Enforcement experience, including inspecting vehicles for compliance with established parking regulations and issuing citations.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA)
- Mechanical skills to perform various motorist assistance services (i.e.; vehicle lockouts, tire inflation, battery jumps, gasoline retrieval, etc.) Knowledge of University policies and procedures, UC Davis Traffic & Parking Code and/or California Vehicle Code (CVC).
- Familiarity with campus parking facility locations. Experience directing traffic and conducting utilization surveys.
- Ability to perform minor repairs on mechanical equipment such as meters and permit dispensers.
