About the job Business Development Lead (Navy)
The primary responsibilities for the Business Development Lead Navy include:
- Developing and implementing business acquisition strategies aligning with company Corporate objectives.
- Leading efforts to respond to Government Sources Soughts, Requests for Information, etc.
- Using intimate knowledge (primarily of Naval customers) to develop and manage customer relationships.
- Constructing briefs to convey capabilities and competencies to potential customers.
- Working closely with customers, to gain knowledge of their hot button needs. Fold this knowledge into pursuit strategies.
- Proactively participating in, and supporting, appropriate networking opportunities within key Navy centers of business (San Diego, DC/Virginia, etc).
- Collecting and accurately / objectively presenting pursuit business cases during management reviews, to facilitate decision making by senior management.
- Analyzing existing and projected customer funding profiles, to drive and/or support development of strategic objectives.
- Capitalizing on competitive intelligence and market data, to clearly understand competitors strengths and weaknesses.
- Populating BD tracking system with accurate and timely acquisition status.
- Maintaining close working relationships with other corporate areas; Engineering, Innovation, Contracts, Finance and HR.
Position Skill/Experience Requirements
- Customer Knowledge and Intimacy
- Must have existing relationships with, and an understanding of defense industry and military acquisition personnel.
- Experience leading business development activities within the Naval arena.
- Business Development Skills
- Experience in creating and supporting capture strategies and plans.
- Experience conducting competitive analysis.
- Advanced experience in authoring technically oriented business development deliverables such as RFI responses.
- Proposal development experience to include volume management, authoring and reviews.
- Support business development pipeline management and metrics.
- Networking and Relationships
- Ability to forge teams, partnerships and alliances to win acquisitions, is critical.
- 10-15 years industry experience, as a recognized business development team member within the aerospace and defense industry.
- Must possess and demonstrate, excellent leadership behaviors.
- Possess strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. `
- Bachelors degree in business administration and/or a technical field.
- Ability to obtain and maintain at least a Secret security clearance. Current security clearance is desirable.
- Experience working with Microsoft Office Suite to include Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
