Successfully complete Advanced First-Aid/CPR/AED certification within one year of hire and maintain throughout employment.Required
Successfully complete Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification within six months of hire and maintain throughout employment.Required
Possess a valid California Bureau of Security & Investigative Services Guard Card within six months of hire and maintain throughout employment.Required
Successfully complete a State of California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training 832 PC course within initial six months of employment and maintain certification throughout employment.Required
Must meet CANRA compliance requirement per California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act ("CANRA," Penal Code sections 11164-11174.4).Required


Experience

Experience working in a higher education setting.Preferred
Demonstrated experience with speaking and presenting information to small and large diverse groups.Required
Experience patrolling assigned areas for safety.Required
Knowledge of and experience enforcing rules and regulations, security policies and procedures, applicable state and local laws, while ensuring the rights of community members.Required


Special Conditions

Special ConditionRequirement
As a condition of employment, must successfully complete an extensive background investigation, including successfully completing an FBI fingerprinting process and maintain the successful completion of an FBI fingerprinting process throughout employment.Required
Must possess and maintain a valid CA Driver License in accordance with the California Department of Motor Vehicles.Required
Ability to work variable shifts, including: evenings; nights; weekends; and holidays. Including the ability to work overtime, as needed, including hours outside of normal shift hours.Required

Excellent interpersonal skills and abilities to relay rules, regulations, policies and directives. Strong verbal and written skills and ability to effectively communicate. Knowledge of English grammar, spelling, punctuation, editing, and proofreading methods.
Ability to prioritize tasks and independently organize available work time to meet assigned responsibilities.
Ability to spend long hours on foot patrol of buildings, grounds, etc.
Must display exceptional customer service and communication skills.
