SED provides unmatched experience in systems engineering to the U.S. government and to numerous public and private agencies, universities, nonprofit organizations, consortia, and commercial companies involved in the advanced application of space technology. From systems architecture development to system analysis and optimization, astrodynamics, orbital debris, navigation, failure analysis, mission assurance, cost and schedule assessment, and economic market analysis, SED exploits an incredibly broad array of engineering and business disciplines against a diverse and dynamic portfolio of programs and national challenges. As part of PMAD and SED, an Engineering Specialist will employ and develop sophisticated simulation tools to perform space and ground design, analysis in support of architecture concept trade studies, requirements verification, analyses-of-alternatives, and performance modeling. This staff member will also act as a technical expert for a portfolio of high-impact projects. They will also work on teams and collaborate with other analysts to expand their domain knowledge. What You'll Be Doing

  • Independently and collaboratively providing subject matter expertise through detailed technical reviews, trade studies, and assessments to satisfy project objectives and tasks
  • Help with sustainment, development, and growth of simulation and analysis capabilities to support new functional areas for a diverse customer base
  • Use analysis results to support recommendations for customer research, development, and acquisition decisions
  • Provide technical insights in the areas of space system architecture modeling and coverage analysis
  • Train and mentor junior staff
  • Develop and present analytical results using multiple computer applications/programming languages such as Python and C/C++

What You Need to Be Successful Minimum Requirements:

  • B.S. Degree in aerospace, astronautical, or mechanical engineering, physics, operations research, mathematics, or a related field of science or engineering
  • Significant history of consistent contribution to multiple substantial technical analytical or development projects
  • Familiarity with orbital mechanics, dynamics, or mathematics related to satellites
  • Knowledge of Python, C, C++, MATLAB, or another programming language
  • Willingness to submit to a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with Counterintelligence (CI) polygraph for SCI access

How You Can Stand Out: It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:

  • A graduate degree in the fields of study mentioned above
  • Graduate level course work or extensive knowledge in orbital mechanics related to satellite access geometry
  • Work history in one of these specific national security space or intelligence mission areas: geo-spatial intelligence, signals intelligence, space surveillance, space protection, ground systems, or communications infrastructure supporting defense or intelligence capabilities.
  • Technically adept with the use of Unix or Linux platforms
  • Experience producing analyses and communicating results to various sized audiences
  • Current and active Top-Secret Clearance (TS) with SCI access
