Job Description:
Under broad guidance, the Interceptor Technician is responsible for supervising Interceptor Assistants in the servicing and repair of sewer mains and appurtenances, as well as assisting with interceptor crews and pump station operations. The role involves servicing and maintaining multiple pumping stations, performing skilled and semi-skilled mechanical work, and acting as an assistant to the Interceptor Foreman. Responsibilities include conducting complex maintenance and repairs on interceptor system force mains, gravity mains, and pump stations, while occasionally leading small teams of assistants during maintenance and repair work.
Job Requirements
Education

Required: High school diploma or GED, plus completion of all 32 trade-required apprenticeship courses or approved equivalent.
Experience

Required: Completion of 100% of on-the-job training skills or approved equivalent.

Experience in construction/repair of sewer lines and operation/maintenance of wastewater interceptor systems and pump stations.

Background in general construction trades, including concrete work, carpentry, welding, steel work, and earthwork.

Familiarity with heavy construction equipment and supervisory experience.

Training Levels

Grade 5: Fully qualified with required education and experience.

Grade 5a: Completion of 22 academic courses and 66% of on-the-job training skills.

Grade 5b: Completion of 12 academic courses and 33% of on-the-job training skills.

Class A Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with tanker endorsement (must be obtained within 6 months of appointment).
