Job Summary Sonographer

This position is responsible for delivering high-quality ultrasound imaging and ensuring a positive, professional, and supportive experience for every patient. The Sonographer will perform a variety of obstetric and gynecologic scans, maintain equipment, and provide accurate preliminary imaging data to support clinical decision-making.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Review patient medical history and provider instructions.

  • Prepare ultrasound equipment and select appropriate settings for each procedure.

  • Explain procedures to patients and document relevant medical information.

  • Position patients to obtain the best diagnostic views.

  • Apply ultrasound gel to ensure proper sound wave transmission.

  • Operate ultrasound equipment to capture and record diagnostic images.

  • Monitor scan images for abnormalities and select key images for physician review.

  • Take measurements, calculate values, and record findings in preliminary reports.

  • Maintain accurate patient records and ensure equipment is properly adjusted and maintained.

  • Protect patient confidentiality at all times.

  • Follow safety, infection control, and quality improvement policies and procedures.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma.

  • Associate or bachelors degree in sonography from an accredited program.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a medical sonographer in an OB/GYN setting.

  • Current ARDMS certification with OB/GYN specialty required.

  • Certification in nuchal translucency scans required.
