Fiber Splicer
Description
The Fiber Splicer is responsible for installing new cable linesboth underground and on utility polesand performing maintenance on existing cables, including evaluation tests and repairs.
Responsibilities:

Prep and splice fiber optic cables, locate problem areas, and perform necessary repairs using fusion splicers and fiber test equipment.

Install and maintain transmission and reception equipment for FTTH networks.

Install and maintain private line network systems and resolve issues preventing normal service operation.

Perform test and turn-up procedures in alignment with compliance standards.

Collect and interpret engineering documentation, including schematics, fiber management systems, and OTDR reports.

Support field maintenance teams, regional engineering teams, and other departments related to the fiber network.

Provide both demand and preventive maintenance for fiber networks and FTTH.

Maintain accurate documentation of network changes and upgrades.

Troubleshoot MDF/headend issues with third-party providers.

Ensure all connections meet required specifications.

Participate in on-call rotation as needed.

Perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or recognized equivalent.

Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.

Valid, clean drivers license in the state of employment.

Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in fiber splicing, test equipment use, and restoration.

Proficiency with fusion splicing machines.

Strong understanding of broadband communication, fiber optics, and Metro Ethernet networks.

Ability to operate advanced test equipment (OTDRs, optical power meters, etc.).

SCTE certification is a plus.

Willingness to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays, including participation in on-call rotations.
