Job Summary
The Biomedical Equipment Technician III (BMET III) is an advanced-level technical role responsible for maintaining, repairing, and calibrating a wide range of biomedical and life-support equipment. This position requires strong technical expertise, problem-solving abilities, and the ability to operate independently while mentoring junior technicians. A BMET III plays a key role in supporting patient care by ensuring all clinical equipment operates safely, efficiently, and in compliance with standards.

Responsibilities
-
Use and maintain electronic test equipment, power supplies, pressure/vacuum gauges, and biomedical devices

Assemble, repair, and maintain electronic devices per specifications
-
Service and repair life-support and high-risk patient care and diagnostic equipment
-
Support scheduled maintenance programs, assign work orders, and ensure accurate documentation

Document all activities within the computerized maintenance system and provide regular updates

Diagnose and repair equipment malfunctions in accordance with technical specifications
-
Research, order, and track required parts for repairs and maintenance

Provide technical training and in-service support to facility staff on equipment use

Demonstrate cost awareness and responsible use of resources

Maintain professional relationships with colleagues, clinical staff, and vendors

Mentor Biomedical Technicians and apprentices

Meet department performance standards consistently

Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace

Adhere to facility policies and procedures

Supervise or coordinate OEM or vendor technicians during on-site service

Qualifications
Education & Training
-
High school diploma or equivalent required
-
Technical certificate or DOD training required
-
College degree or advanced certification related to biomedical technology preferred
Experience

35 years of experience servicing medical equipment in a hospital environment
