Senior System Engineer (Level 2 or 3) Onsite, Colorado Springs, CO
Program Overview:
This position supports the Sentinel program (formerly the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent - GBSD), contributing to the engineering design of the next-generation Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) system. The role supports the Air Forces sustainment, development, production, and deployment of hardware and system modifications for ICBM Ground and Airborne Launch Control Systems, Launch Facilities, and associated infrastructure.
This position follows a 9/80 work schedule (nine-hour days with a three-day weekend every other week) and is 100% on-site in North Colorado Springs, CO. Remote or hybrid options are not available.
Responsibilities:

Support an Agile Scrum Team for the Command & Launch (C&L) segment of the Sentinel program and the Command and Control (C2) Software Team.

Support system engineering activities for capability buildup in the Sentinel Flight Test Campaign.

Define, develop, decompose, analyze, verify, and validate architectures and requirements.

Support program leadership and customer efforts to define and maintain the C&L technical baseline.

Ensure SE artifact maturity and milestone completion.

Utilize Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) principles to model processes, tools, and activities across the program.

Assist in managing the C2 technical software requirements baseline, aligning with program goals and objectives.

Guide and mentor C2 Software Team members in agile software requirements development.

Drive technical execution in support of major program events, collaborating across the program portfolio.

Support resolution of high-level systems challenges and execution of the overall technical plan within the Integrated Master Schedule (IMS).

Contribute to strategic initiatives on tools, processes, and cross-segment technical reviews.

Perform requirements analysis, document source data, generate requirements verification, and work with suppliers and internal teams.

Interface with subject matter experts, analysts, architects, designers, and system engineers to capture system structure and behavior using SysML/UML frameworks.

Apply engineering principles to design components and systems according to standards and specifications.

Develop technical content for presentations to internal and external stakeholders.

Maintain design documentation and follow configuration management requirements.

Support development and implementation of MBSE strategy.

Support requirement decomposition, derivation, and traceability.
Requirements:

Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Science, Information Systems, or related STEM discipline.

Minimum 10 years of experience on projects of similar scope or complexity.

U.S. citizen with an active DoD Secret clearance (investigation within 6 years). TS/SCI preferred.

Ability to obtain and maintain Top Secret and Special Access Program (SAP) security clearance.

Experience supporting software development in C++, Python, Bash, Object-Oriented Programming (OOP).

Experience with MBSE, DOORS, and/or Cameo.
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) in a structured, process-driven environment.

Experience with Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) tools such as GitLab, GitHub, Azure, Jenkins, or Nexus.

Experience with automated testing techniques including unit and integration testing.

Knowledge of USAF Nuclear Surety (DO-178C, AFMAN 91-119, DO-330, etc.).

Experience with Atlassian tools (JIRA/Confluence).

Experience with Software Safety standards (Mil-STD-882E).

Experience with Agile methodologies.
