Position Overview

  • Role: Chief Clerk/District Court
  • Reports to: Clerk of the Court and Clerical Systems Manager
  • Responsibilities:
    • Perform complex and confidential clerical tasks.
    • Provide guidance and non-disciplinary supervision to court clerks.
    • Handle public inquiries and resolve routine issues.
    • Refer complex matters to higher-level supervisors.
    • Must be deputized and bonded for legal actions.

Qualifications

Required

  • Experience:
    • 5+ years of progressively responsible clerical work. OR
    • Graduation from a 2-year clerical/business program + 2+ years of relevant experience.
    • Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience also accepted.

Preferred (Not Mandatory)

  • 2+ years of supervisory experience.
  • 2+ years of clerical experience within a court system.

Work Environment

  • Physical Activities: Mostly sedentary; occasional lifting of objects up to 35 lbs.
  • Location: Office-based within the District Court.

Other Requirements

  • Pre-employment Screening:
    • Medical exam (includes physical and drug screening).
    • Criminal background check.
  • Probationary Period: Employment is subject to satisfactory completion of probation.

  • Eligible List: Qualified candidates will be listed for three months, subject to extension or exhaustion.
