About the job Project Engineer


This position scopes, plans, and manages capital projects to provide new equipment and capabilities to company assets with a focus on growing pharmaceutical process capabilities. Provides engineering support to R&D/Technical Services, Manufacturing, Quality, and Maintenance pertaining to R&D, laboratory, production equipment, utility systems, and facilities. Ensures compliance with process safety, product, and environmental regulations.

Main aspects of the role include:
Executes all aspects of capital projects as assigned, including cost estimates, scope definition, capital appropriation requests, design specifications, bidding, budget management, contractor management, installation, and start-up.
Establishes viable contractors, vendors, and fabricators.
Identifies new technologies and equipment solutions to improve operations.
Provides technical support to R&D, manufacturing, and maintenance as required for lab, processing, and packaging systems optimization and structural changes.
Performs work in accordance with all applicable local, state, and federal codes and regulations, including compliance with OSHA, USDA, FDA, UBC codes, and SQF and ISO regulations and programs as applicable.
Utilizes asset management software – including the addition of new assets and applicable information, as well as leveraging data for analysis and referencing historical data to inform upcoming project decisions.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Industrial Engineering. In addition, this candidate should have experience in scoping, managing, and executing successful capital projects in the pharmaceutical industry. A minimum of 5 years of experience working in the pharmaceutical industry, specifically in a technical capacity, is required. The individual should have a demonstrated aptitude for design and implementation for new processes and equipment in a manufacturing environment. Finally, this individual must possess organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
