Technologist Blood Bank Laboratory

An exciting opportunity is available for a trained Technologist to join an innovative Blood Bank laboratory. This role offers the chance to work in a dynamic environment with a focus on accuracy, safety, and the highest standards of laboratory procedures.

Role Overview

  • Specimen Review: Reviews requisitions and orders, verifies the accuracy of corresponding specimens, and documents specimen collection information in the Laboratory Information System (LIS).
  • Test Accuracy: Assures accuracy of tests by adhering to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and performs routine and advanced equipment maintenance.
  • Laboratory Safety & Upkeep: Contributes to maintaining a clean, safe work environment and ensures adequate inventories of reagents and supplies.
  • Training & Supervision: Provides direction, training, and feedback to other technologists in specialty areas and assists in department orientation and training of trainees.
  • Scheduling & Coordination: Prepares training schedules and coordinates activities with section supervisors and senior staff.

Key Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology, or equivalent.
  • Experience: 5 years of experience as a NYS Certified Medical Laboratory Technologist, or 4 years with a Masters degree.
  • Specialization: Blood bank experience preferred.
