Contracts Associate II, Research Contracts Team

An opportunity is available for a Contracts Associate II to join a Research Contracting team, providing support and advice to scientific and research leaders and contributing to the overall mission of advancing cancer research through legal expertise in research contracts.

Role Overview

  • Contract Management: Independently manage contracts from creation to execution.
  • Agreement Review: Review, negotiate, finalize, and amend agreement terms and conditions to align with institutional policies with minimal direction from legal counsel.
  • Stakeholder Liaison: Communicate and provide updates to internal stakeholders as requested.
  • System Maintenance: Maintain and update relevant contract systems and databases.
  • Support Development: Assist in the development and implementation of contract guidance documents, workflows, policies, and tools for tracking and managing agreements.
  • Special Projects: Assist with special projects and other job-related activities as assigned.

Key Qualifications

  • Education: Juris Doctor with 0-2 years of experience preferred; will consider candidates with 2-4 years of relevant experience without JD.
  • Experience: Experience in reviewing and negotiating research contracts (e.g., Materials Transfer Agreements, Data Transfer Agreements, Amendments, and other academic research-related agreements), preferably in an academic or non-profit institution.
  • Interest: Demonstrated interest in science, research, and/or healthcare.

  • Communication: Ability to develop, facilitate, and orchestrate effective communication with all team members, including research staff, administrators, and institutional leaders.
