Engineering Specialist (Gas Distribution Division)

Description:
The Engineering Specialist supports gas utility engineering, drafting functions, and survey/inspection permitting for construction and development projects. This role provides specialized technical expertise to ensure the accuracy and quality of utility maps, drawings, and engineering support materials.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide drafting services and maintain maps, drawings, and plans.

  • Prepare working drawings, gas utility easements, MOT plans, CSX plans, and construction documents.

  • Draft detailed construction drawings, topographical profiles, maps, and specifications.

  • Research, compile, and assemble construction data; conduct field visits to collect information.

  • Perform data entry and maintain specialized databases such as GIS.

  • Prepare layouts and designs in AutoCAD according to engineering specifications.

  • Review engineering drawings and supporting documentation for compliance with standards.

  • Analyze designs, resolve incomplete details, and ensure drawings are accurate, clear, and complete.

  • Investigate and resolve service requests and information inquiries.

  • Perform related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficiency in preparing, reviewing, and coordinating engineering designs, drawings, and specifications.

  • Ability to manage engineering projects within budgetary and time constraints.

  • Strong knowledge of AutoCAD drafting, GIS databases, and construction documentation.

  • Ability to conduct site visits/inspections, collect field data, and resolve project-related issues.

  • Skilled in compiling technical data, maintaining records, and preparing reports.

  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.

Minimum Training and Experience:

  • Associates Degree in drafting, engineering, or a related field.

  • 34 years of AutoCAD experience.

  • Three years of paraprofessional engineering experience (preferably utility-related).

  • Equivalent training and experience may be considered.

Licensing/Certifications:

  • Valid Drivers License with a satisfactory driving record.

  • Ability to obtain a valid state drivers license within 30 days of hire.

  • Some assignments may require additional vocational training.
