The Accounting Supervisor oversees financial processes and procedures for the Parking Division, including billing, accounts receivable, grants, and general accounting functions. This role is also responsible for managing accounting duties related to Capital Funds and associated accounts while supervising staff and ensuring compliance with policies and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily operations, direct workflow, and manage scheduling for assigned areas.

  • Maintain detailed records of revenue and expenditures for CIP projects; reconcile balances.

  • Provide monthly balance statements and prepare reports for State, Federal, and City funding compliance.

  • Review and approve financial transactions in accounting and revenue systems.

  • Develop, implement, monitor, and evaluate financial policies, procedures, and controls.

  • Prepare technical and statistical reports, including single audits, annual reports, cost analyses, and management reports.

  • Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate staff.

  • Manage budgets, approve expenditures, and present analytical data and recommendations.

  • Handle correspondence and address citizen, customer, vendor, and staff concerns.

Minimum Training and Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in business administration, finance, accounting, or related field.

  • Five years of professional accounting experience.

  • Two years of supervisory experience.

  • Equivalent combinations of training and experience may be considered.

Licensing, Certifications, and Preferences:

  • Familiarity with governmental funding sources preferred.

  • Working knowledge of Oracle-based financial systems preferred.

  • CPA preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of accounting practices, reconciliations, financial reporting, audits, debt and grant management, and internal controls.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel) and financial databases.

  • Skills in budgeting, expenditure tracking, forecasting, recordkeeping, reporting, supervising, and motivating staff.

  • Abilities to analyze, adapt, problem-solve, and manage multiple priorities effectively.
