Job Summary
The Cybersecurity Engineer III is responsible for advanced system analysis, design, and implementation of cybersecurity solutions across a range of information systems, from standalone workstations to fully integrated networked environments. This role ensures systems meet regulatory security requirements while maintaining functionality and performance.
Essential Job Functions
- Plan, conduct, and support system accreditation efforts, including prototypes and operational systems.
- Patch, provision, and secure operating systems while maintaining system functionality.
- Assist in complex troubleshooting and provide guidance to technical teams.
- Train and mentor junior and mid-level cybersecurity engineers.
- Conduct security control assessments and produce technical documentation such as risk assessments, test plans, and architecture reports.
- Develop and maintain documentation related to system security, policies, and architecture.
- Organize and lead technical meetings, document discussions, and track action items.
- Collaborate with engineering teams and management to meet project timelines and objectives.
- Lead cybersecurity projects and assign tasks to team members.
- Perform system installations and security assessments, including on-site evaluations.
- Support proposal development through technical input, estimates, and planning structures.
- Handle equipment safely and follow operational requirements, including standard and extended work schedules.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong experience with Risk Management Framework (RMF) and cybersecurity regulations for information systems.
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulatory frameworks for cybersecurity compliance.
- Knowledge of system acquisition and sustainment processes related to secure IT environments.
- Expertise in configuring and securing operating systems, including Windows and Linux-based platforms.
- Advanced skills in system configuration, scripting, deployment, and imaging.
- Experience with security tools such as antivirus, vulnerability assessment, file integrity monitoring, and security testing tools.
- Ability to deploy and manage security solutions across various environments, including networked and standalone systems.
- Strong analytical, communication, and documentation skills.
- Ability to obtain required security clearance.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in cybersecurity.
- Required certification meeting Information Assurance standards (IAT-III or equivalent).
- Experience in systems, simulation, or computer engineering preferred.
- Must be eligible for security clearance.
