Job Description:

Utility Plant Specialist Electrical

We are seeking a licensed Utility Plant Specialist (Electrical) to perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of industrial electrical and mechanical systems in a utility plant environment. This role involves working with motors, controllers, VFDs, PLCs, and other water utility equipment, as well as supervising staff in the absence of a supervisor.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot, repair, and install electrical equipment and circuitry.

  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.

  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on utility electrical systems.

  • Use electrical test equipment and ensure compliance with NEC, NFPA 70, and NFPA 70E standards.

  • Complete administrative tasks, including work orders, maintenance logs, and file updates.

  • Communicate effectively with vendors and contractors.

  • Operate equipment such as forklifts, bucket trucks, and cranes safely.

  • Serve as essential personnel (on-call, nights, weekends, holidays as needed).

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

  • Journeyman Electrician License required (Master Electrician preferred).

  • Knowledge of electrical/mechanical equipment in utility or industrial plants.

  • Familiarity with arc flash hazards, conduit bending, and Megger testing.

  • Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and lifting/hoisting equipment.

  • Valid Drivers License required (CDL preferred or ability to obtain).

Preferred:

  • Master Electrician License.

  • Class B or higher CDL.

  • At least 2 years of related experience.
