Job Summary

The Unit Secretary supports efficient communication and workflow within the nursing unit. Key responsibilities include acting as a receptionist, maintaining patient records, transcribing and relaying provider orders, and assisting with overall organization at the nursing station. Additional related duties may be assigned as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary communication point for the nursing unit

  • Function as a receptionist for staff, visitors, and providers

  • Maintain accurate and organized patient records

  • Transcribe and communicate physician orders promptly

  • Support the nursing station by maintaining order and assisting with administrative tasks

  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education & Training

  • High school graduate or equivalent preferred

  • Certification as a Unit Secretary preferred

Experience

  • No experience required

  • Previous work experience in a medical environment preferred

  • Familiarity with basic office equipment is desirable
