Job Description:

Supervise staff to promote, champion, and partner with all levels of management to instill a world-class safety culture. Apply safety prevention concepts through leadership, knowledge, skills, and abilities to advocate for a safe and healthy work environment and the protection of organizational assets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accidents and Incidents: Conduct trend analysis on accident, incident, injury, and illness data to develop quarterly safety reports. Develop and implement injury prevention programs based on key injury categories. Participate in safety committee and pre-construction meetings. Complete special projects and assignments as required.

  • Emergency Events: Respond to emergency call-outs after hours and investigate accidents involving equipment and employees.

  • Investigations: Investigate injuries, fatalities, and close calls for causal factors and prevention measures. Audit and monitor work zones for compliance and investigate serious work zone accidents.

  • Safety Accountability: Demonstrate integrity, compliance, and stewardship of resources. Hold staff accountable to established safety standards and model safety behaviors.

  • Safety Program Administration: Develop and evaluate safety specifications, regulations, and standards. Provide mandatory training in safety, emergency preparedness, and accident prevention. Perform alcohol and drug testing as required by regulations.

  • Safety Standards: Maintain comprehensive knowledge of federal, state, and local safety regulations, codes, and standards (NFPA, MUTCD, ANSI, ASTM, OSHA, etc.). Act as liaison on safety issues, provide leadership to staff, and serve as lead compliance manager on projects and investigations.

  • Skill in technical writing, public speaking, and the use of computer systems and software applications.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ability to obtain required safety and health certifications.

  • Experience in accident investigation, data analysis, and technical reporting.

  • Experience interpreting and applying safety-related codes, standards, and procedures.

  • Knowledge of occupational safety and industrial hygiene standards.

  • Strong computer and web-based application skills.

  • Valid drivers license.
