Job Summary
The Sweeping & Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for leading roadway sweeping and maintenance operations, supervising field crews, coordinating traffic control, and ensuring all maintenance activities are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project requirements. This role combines hands-on equipment operation with team leadership to maintain roadway safety, productivity, and quality standards during routine maintenance operations.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate roadway sweeping and maintenance crews.
- Lead routine roadway maintenance and sweeping operations.
- Operate roadway sweeping and heavy equipment as needed.
- Coordinate traffic control and ensure safe work zone setup.
- Monitor work quality, productivity, and compliance with safety standards.
- Perform roadway maintenance activities, including concrete repair and equipment operation.
- Conduct inspections of equipment and ensure preventive maintenance is completed.
- Maintain compliance with company policies and applicable regulations.
- Communicate work assignments and provide guidance to maintenance personnel.
- Respond to changing operational needs, including emergency weather events.
- Utilize mobile technology and applications to document and manage work activities.
- Promote a safe work environment and ensure proper use of personal protective equipment.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum 5 years of roadway maintenance, sweeping, or construction experience.
- Minimum 2 years of related supervisory or field leadership experience.
- Experience operating heavy equipment, including roadway sweepers, loaders, skid steers, forklifts, and asphalt rollers.
- Knowledge of traffic control practices and roadway safety standards.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions.
- Ability to operate smartphones, tablets, laptops, and related applications.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work overnight, weekends, emergency callouts, and severe weather events.
- Ability to work safely in varying environmental and weather conditions.
- Ability to pass required background and drug screening.
