Job Description:

Perform special duties as assigned and be available on stand-by for seasonal work to support storm preparation and snow removal activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Emergency Operations: Assist with clearing snow and ice from roadways; apply abrasives and chemicals as needed. May also be called in to respond to other weather emergencies.

  • Manual Labor: Perform heavy labor such as installing tire chains, plows, and blades; assist with debris removal.

  • Preventative Maintenance: Conduct preventative maintenance on equipment used during inclement weather.

  • Other Duties: Perform assigned duties, tasks, activities, and projects as directed.

What Will Make You Successful

  • Ability to operate medium and heavy equipment (dump trucks, front-end loaders, motor graders, backhoes, skid steers, and tractors).

  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ability to perform heavy manual labor, including standing, bending, and frequent lifting up to 50 lbs.

  • Ability to work day or night shifts to support emergency operations.

  • Possession of a CDL and DOT medical card (must be maintained).

  • Compliance with DOT standards when operating CDL equipment.

  • Safety shoes required.

  • Skilled in operating medium and heavy equipment such as dump trucks, tractors, loaders, and graders.

  • Valid drivers license.

Additional Considerations

  • Education, training, or experience in emergency operations, snow removal, or related fields.

  • Experience performing preventative maintenance on heavy equipment.

  • Proficiency in snow removal operations using equipment such as dump trucks, graders, backhoes, tractors, and loaders.

  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts, including nights and weekends as needed.

  • Flexibility to work outside normal business hours during emergencies, inclement weather, and hazardous traffic conditions.
