Gas & Water Field Specialist, Senior

Description:
The Gas & Water Field Specialist, Senior supports field operations by responding to emergencies, performing system turn-ons/turn-offs, and providing routine maintenance for gas and water systems. This role requires flexibility to work assigned shifts, including on-call rotations, weekends, holidays, and during emergency conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Investigate gas and water leaks and recommend corrective actions.

  • Respond to fire and carbon monoxide calls.

  • Verify meter readings, addresses, and billing information.

  • Consult with customers regarding appliance operation and safety.

  • Maintain meter reading and AMR maintenance equipment.

  • Enter meter readings into data terminals and perform manual reads as needed.

  • Conduct monthly meter reading audits.

  • Perform AMR maintenance and support mobile route operations.

  • Drive assigned routes and communicate with customers and staff.

  • Complete other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Minimum Training and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • Two years of experience in gas/water pipelines, plumbing, or a related field.

  • Equivalent training and experience may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience installing or repairing gas lines (residential or commercial).

  • At least one year of plumbing, pipefitting, or HVAC work.

  • Experience in customer service or field labor.

  • Ability to obtain Operator Qualification (OQ) within 6 months of hire.

Licensing/Certifications:

  • Valid Drivers License.

  • Ability to obtain a valid state drivers license within 30 days of hire.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of gas/water pipeline and meter maintenance/repair.

  • Familiarity with electronic meter reading systems, GIS maps, and work management software.

  • Proficiency in pipefitting, plumbing, and safe equipment operation (hand tools, backhoes, dump trucks, gas detection equipment).

  • Ability to identify hazards, follow safety/OSHA procedures, and work in compliance with regulations.

  • Strong communication skills, ability to multi-task, and capability to train others when needed.
