Job Summary

A Maintenance Laborer is needed to support crane maintenance and general yard operations through physical labor and equipment upkeep. The role involves cleaning and preparing cranes, assisting with preventative maintenance, maintaining supplies, and supporting operations in areas such as the power shop, warehouse, and yard. The position requires attention to safety, ability to use tools, and flexibility to assist with various operational tasks.

Requirements

Required

  • Experience using common hand and power tools (e.g., pressure washers, drills, saws, wrenches)
  • Basic English communication skills (reading, writing, speaking)
  • Ability to process alphanumeric information accurately
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including extended hours, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships
  • Ability to follow procedures and make sound decisions
  • Must obtain a TWIC card within 30 days of employment

Preferred

  • At least 1 year of experience operating a forklift in accordance with safety standards

Responsibilities

Primary

  • Clean and wash mobile harbor cranes
  • Prepare cranes for painting and perform painting tasks
  • Maintain and organize crane supply inventory
  • Assist with preventative maintenance of cranes
  • Perform general maintenance tasks in the power shop area
  • Clean heavy equipment and support power shop operations as needed

Secondary

  • Clean and maintain containers and yard areas
  • Assist with cargo transfers and rearrangement when required
  • Support inspection processes, including agriculture inspections
  • Maintain awareness of surroundings to ensure safe operations
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Physical Requirements

  • Continuous standing, walking, reaching, and handling tools
  • Frequent bending, climbing, squatting, and repetitive movements
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • Visual abilities including distance, depth perception, and focus adjustment

Safety Requirements

  • Report hazards and incidents immediately
  • Follow all safety policies and procedures
  • Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
  • Participate in safety training and meetings
  • Maintain awareness of personal and team safety at all times
