General Manager
Location: Circleville, OH
Job Summary
The General Manager is responsible for leading all aspects of plant operations, including production, maintenance, transportation, and personnel management. This role oversees approximately 45 staff and carries full P&L responsibility, ensuring that safety, efficiency, and profitability objectives are consistently met.
Key Responsibilities
Safety

Ensure a clean, safe, and well-maintained facility while promoting a culture of safety and respect.

Collaborate with supervisors to establish and maintain safe operating procedures.

Conduct or assist with regular safety meetings and ensure adherence to company safety standards.
Management

Direct and coordinate all manufacturing operations, including production, purchasing, sales, and logistics.

Monitor progress toward operational goals and objectives, providing updates to senior management as needed.

Build and maintain a high-performing team through coaching, motivation, and professional development.

Partner with Human Resources and leadership to resolve personnel and production issues effectively.
Operations

Oversee day-to-day production, maintenance, and transportation functions to ensure efficient, high-quality output.

Manage plant costs, inventory, and operating methods within established budgets.

Optimize use of personnel, equipment, and facilities for maximum productivity.

Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on cost reduction, preventive maintenance, training, and process enhancement.
Material Acquisition

Collaborate with procurement and raw material teams to identify and evaluate new material sources.

Negotiate and manage supplier agreements while ensuring consistent material flow and quality.
Sales Support

Coordinate closely with the sales and customer service teams to address production issues, material shortages, or customer needs.

Support sales strategies and ensure plant operations align with customer demand.
Planning and Reporting

Contribute to division planning sessions and assist in developing long-term operational goals.

Prepare and analyze production, raw material, and financial data to support annual budgeting and forecasting.

Participate in quarterly operational reviews and help set measurable performance targets.
Financial Management

Work with senior leadership to develop financial plans, budgets, and forecasts.

Monitor financial performance, ensuring the accuracy of monthly reports and statements.

Lead monthly plant meetings to review profitability, performance metrics, and improvement initiatives.
Requirements

Bachelors Degree and/or a minimum of 5 years of management experience.

Proven experience in general and operations management.

Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.

Background in manufacturing, engineering/maintenance, wood products, or transportation preferred.

Must maintain compliance with all workplace safety standards and protocols.
