Veterinary Surgeon - Barnsley

Location: Barnsley, South Yorkshire (S75)

The Vet Office is recruiting a Veterinary Surgeon to join a modern 24/7 small animal hospital in Barnsley, South Yorkshire. This is a permanent role with the option of full-time or part-time hours.

About the Hospital

The hospital is an established small animal and emergency services centre, providing continuous 24/7 care with a dedicated on-site team. Open since 2002, it has grown into a reference point in the area and is equipped with:

• CT scanner

• Rigid and flexible endoscopy

• Ultrasound

• Facilities for neurosurgery, orthopaedics and minimally invasive surgery

• Stem cell therapy and chemotherapy

• Fully equipped first-opinion practice

The hospital holds multiple RCVS awards in recognition of its clinical standards and client care.

The Team

The successful candidate will join a large, experienced team including:

• 14 Veterinary Surgeons (including an in-house OOH team)

• 24 Registered Veterinary Nurses

• 3 Student Veterinary Nurses

• 5 Animal Care Assistants

• A strong non-clinical support team

The team manages both first-opinion and referral cases under one roof, ensuring continuity and high standards of care.

The Role

The Vet Office is looking for a Veterinary Surgeon (minimum 2 years experience) to join the first-opinion day team. The ideal candidate:

• Is confident with routine medical and surgical cases

• Enjoys a varied caseload and working cases up to a high standard

• Works well within a multidisciplinary team

• Is committed to delivering excellent client and patient care

Working Hours

Both full-time and part-time options are available:

• Full-time: 4 weekdays plus alternate weekends

• Part-time: 3 long days with 1 in 4 weekends
