Emergency & Critical Care
The Vet Office is recruiting an experienced Emergency & Critical Care (ECC) Night Veterinary Nurse to join a modern and expanding veterinary hospital in Dundrum, South Dublin.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced RVN who enjoys emergency medicine, intensive patient care and working with complex hospitalised cases, while benefiting from a structured part-time night rota.
The Rota
The position is part-time and structured around:
Monday–Thursday: 4-night blocks
Friday–Sunday: 3-night blocks on a 1-in-6 rota
A great option for an experienced nurse who enjoys night work while having significant blocks of time away from the hospital.
Salary & Bonus
€37,500–€44,000 gross/year, depending on experience
PLUS
€3,000 Sign-On Bonus
The Hospital
The Dundrum hospital has recently undergone renovation and expansion, alongside the development of its Emergency & Critical Care service.
Facilities include dedicated clinical areas, a separate dental suite and individual cat and dog wards, supporting high standards of inpatient and emergency care.
You'll work alongside experienced vets, nurses and support staff managing emergency and critically ill patients.
The Role
Your work will include:
Emergency triage and stabilisation
Intensive nursing of critically ill patients
IV catheter placement, fluids and medication administration
Anaesthesia monitoring and recovery
Monitoring vital signs and pain management
Diagnostic testing
Supporting emergency procedures and surgery
Resuscitation and emergency response
Detailed clinical handovers and patient records
You'll also have the opportunity to support and mentor junior team members and continue developing your ECC knowledge.
Who We're Looking For
Ideally, you'll be:
- A qualified and VCI-registered Veterinary Nurse
- An RVN with 5+ years' small animal experience
- Confident caring for critically ill and emergency patients
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced clinical environment
- Experienced with anaesthesia and inpatient care
- Organised, resilient and an excellent communicator
- Passionate about delivering high-standard patient care
Previous experience within an emergency or referral hospital is highly desirable.
An ECC qualification or certificate would be an advantage but is not essential.
